Training Session on “Communal Riots & Role of Para Legal Activists” held at APCR Headquarters, New Delhi

New Delhi, 24 November: A two hour session on the topic “Communal Riots & Role of Para Legal Activists” held by APCR Delhi Chapter at E-89 A.F. Enclave Jamia Nagar, Okhla New Delhi, the Headquarters of Association for Protection of Civil Rights (APCR).

Some twenty selected volunteers from the chapter attended the session facilitated by Dr. Shakeel Ahmad (National Secretary, APCR) who has a lot of practical experience on the above issue during Gujarat communal carnage of 2002.

The subject was introduced by Akhlaq Ahmad (Secretary, APCR Delhi Chapter). He briefed the current scenario with context to the recent communal violence in Delhi-NCR.

Addressing on the issue Dr. Shakeel Ahmad said, “For the Establishment of real peace, it is essential that culprits of the riots should be prosecuted and victims should be compensated as soon as possible and for that registration of F.I.R, proper documentation, monitoring of the investigation as well as the trial and intervention in to the matter must be assured by a Para Legal Activist”.

Lecture was followed by mutual discussions and question-answer session.
