Pune jail Qateel Siddiqui murder intervention


(June 2012): Qateel Siddiqui was under Judicial Custody in Yervada Central Prison, Pune and on June 8, 2012 his brutal murder took place in the high-security Egg Cell Prison.

The authorities concerned surfaced two of the inmates of Yervada Central Prison i.e. Alok Bhalerao and Sharad Mohol and subsequently FIR No.266/2012 came to be registered with P.S. Yervada Pune for the offence punishable under section 302 R/W 34 of IPC and on later stage final report came to be filed in which attempted to establish the murder of Qateel Siddiqui outcome of strangulation by means of string of Barmuda.

APCR was looking in the matter from the beginning, after the murder took place, APCR first initiated for family supported to get body at home. Request Letters to President of India, Governor of Maharashtra, Chief Justice of Mumbai High Court for independent Judicial Inquiry, along with compensation to the family and prosecution to culprits etc.

Now a case against the authorities responsible for murder will be challenged in Bombay High Court soon.
