Aligarh| In the ongoing controversy of ‘Ghar-Wapsi’, APCR UP West Chapter submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate of Aligarh on 24 December 2014.
Mushfique Raza Khan, Secretary, APCR UP West along with Aligarh Muslim University Students Union (AMUSU)’s President Abdullah Azzam and Vice President Syed Masoodul Hasan submitted a memorandum and visit report of the “Ghar-Wapsi” event held at Agra on December 8. The memorandum demanded that the “Ghar-Wapsi” religious conversion event proposed to be held by the RSS affiliated organization Dharma Jagran Munch on 25 December must be cancelled.
These events are aimed at converting poor Muslim and Christian people to Hinduism through deceit and intimidation and are likely to cause communal disturbance. They also violate the basic fundamental rights of an individual and stifle his/her freedom of conscience.
The visit report clearly verified that the conversion of 57 Muslim Families in Agra had taken place though deceit and the victims have said that they will continue to practice Islam, and they were told that the event was meant to present them with some governmental entitlements such as free Ration Card Aadhaar card etc.
